My Own Two Hands is a regional celebration of the arts and fundraiser for the programs of Sisters Folk Festival, Inc. Each year a theme is selected to inspire artists to create and donate a piece of art to be sold at the benefit auction. Proceeds support music and arts classes, instruction, materials, events and activities in the Sisters schools and community.
Here’s how you can get involved!
- Contact [email protected] if you’d like to be added to the email list for the Call for Artwork donations. The Call typically goes out in early January.
- We encourage artists to select one piece that best represents their work. Due to the large number of submissions, if we receive multiple entries from an artist we may only be able to accept one.
- My Own Two Hands is usually in early to mid-May; artwork donations are due approximately 60 days in advance or mid-March. Specific dates will be included in the Call for Artwork
We can accept 100 pieces for the auction – we may not be able to accept all donations. Artwork is juried for inclusion and placement in the live or silent auction. Donors will be notified of placement in the live or silent auction and if your piece is not chosen for the live auction, you have the option of offering another piece to be considered for the silent auction or withdrawing your donation.
All artwork accepted for the auction becomes the property of Sisters Folk Festival, Inc.
Your artwork donation will be widely promoted through our website, social media and in the Sisters Magazine distributed in The Bulletin. All of the artwork is displayed during the fourth Friday Art Stroll in April and the My Own Two Hands art stroll preceding the auction. A 64-page publication, “A Community of Artists”, is created following the auction. The publication devotes a half page to each artist and their donation and highlights the immense artistic talent in our region. 7,500 copies are printed and distributed throughout the year to galleries, chambers of commerce and lodging properties in Central Oregon.
